There are many types of disabilities. There are those that are mental (e.g., cognitive or learning disabilities), emotional, and physical. So too are their disabilities that are more personal in nature. Dealing with your own disability, or the disability of a loved one, can be challenging. Often times people are not prepared for these situations can experience a wide range of emotional and spiritual problems. It is not uncommon for individuals to experience frustration, anger, denial, grief, resentment, and/or depression, Often times individuals may isolate themselves, shut down emotionally, or experience problems with anger management. Sometimes dealing with a disability can even shake up one's faith. Disabilities can occur because of an event such as a stroke or accident, come on over time, or be something that has been present since birth. Disabilities can lead to depression, communication problems, family difficulties, and other issues. What can you expect from telephone counseling?
Using the phone to talk with a counselor is not much different than what you could expect from an office visit. The therapy we offer at Healing Telephone Counselling, by way of the telephone, can be as effective, or even more effective, than the traditional in-office visits.
You may have anxieties or concerns about office visits and may not be as willing to open up and truly express your feelings and thoughts because it seems too overwhelming or intimidating to sit down, face-to-face with a counselor. By using the telephone, you can discuss without the self-consciousness you may experience sitting across from a mental health professional.

This means you can slowly address your issues, or you can choose to share your problems in your initial phone session.

He or she may ask you questions about your thoughts and feelings, and help guide you to exploring issues surrounding your concerns.
